Ingredients

  • 1 pound pizza dough or 1 recipe for homemade pizza dough
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce additional for dipping if desired
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2-4 tbsp diced onion
  • 2-4 tbsp diced green pepper
  • 10-15 slices of pepperoni
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • 1/4 tsp garlic salt
  • 2 tbsp shredded parmesan cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 525 degrees F. Divide pizza dough into 2 equal parts and roll each ball into 12 inch circle
  • On half of each dough circle, add 1/4 cup pizza sauce, 1/2 cup mozzarella, 1-2 tbsp onion, 1-2 tbsp green pepper, and 5-7 slices pepperoni. Make sure to leave about an inch around the dough edge free of sauce and toppings. Fold other half of dough over the toppings and crimp the edges. Using sharp knife, cut 2-3 slits on the top of dough and place on pizza screen or baking sheet.
  • Mix melted butter and garlic salt in a small bowl and brush top of calzones evenly. Sprinkle 1 tbsp shredded parmesan on each calzone. Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes. Serve with a side of warm pizza sauce for dipping if desired

Better than any pizza place calzone round these parts. Best dough I’ve tried so far.
